We are excited to share the impactful experience of our student, Jens Mostert, who recently completed his internship at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret, Kenya. His work was pivotal in deploying 3D printing technology within clinical practice, demonstrating the potential of innovation in healthcare.

Developing Patient-Specific Solutions

During his internship, Jens focused on creating patient-specific tools, such as splints and casts, as well as producing functional parts for medical equipment. These initiatives proved invaluable in a context where supply chains can be fragile, making fast, affordable, and locally achievable solutions essential. His experience underscored how 3D printing can enhance efficiency, ensure continuity of care, and foster technological autonomy in healthcare settings.
Collaborating for Success

Working closely with local engineers and healthcare professionals allowed Jens to gain valuable insights into the practical aspects of implementation, quality assurance, and material selection in resource-limited environments. This collaboration deepened his understanding of medical technology in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) contexts and significantly contributed to his professional development.
Stay tuned for more inspiring updates from our students as they continue to drive progress and change in healthcare around the world!
